Sympathy – by Paul Laurence Dunbar

“I know why the caged bird sings”

Last night around midnight I finished a book which borrowed its title from a line in this poem. After looking up the poem and reading it, I knew I had to share it. Here’s a link to a website dedicated to Paul Laurence Dunbar – He is credited with being “the first African-American to gain national eminence as a poet.”

Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
