Are There Zombies in the Bible - by Jeremy Binns

Are There Zombies in the Bible?

Are There Zombies in the Bible???

Most of us already know that the Bible is full of prophecies.  According to one article I read recently, there are somewhere in the neighborhood of 2,500 of them – of those, the article claimed that 2,000 had already been fulfilled.  So the fact that we should take this stuff very, very, very, very, very seriously should be obvious to anyone with the slightest bit of common sense.

So are there zombies in the bible?  In all honesty, up until around a year ago I would have dismissed the idea without even a second though.  Foolishness to be certain!  That is until I came across a verse that left me wondering, what if…

12 Now this will be the plague with which the Lord will strike all the peoples who have gone to war against Jerusalem; their flesh will rot while they stand on their feet, and their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongue will rot in their mouth. 13 It will come about in that day that a great panic from the Lord will fall on them; and they will seize one another’s hand, and the hand of one will be lifted against the hand of another. – Zechariah 14:12-13

This passage comes from the Book of Zechariah 14:12-13, which is a prophetic book in the Old Testament.  Many of the prophecies contained in this book deal with the coming of Jesus, and were remarkably fulfilled by His life, death, and resurrection.  Some of the passages however, deal with times yet to come.  (I’m not a theologian, but most people tend to agree with me on that.)

So what if this is the real Zombie Verse in the Bible?  I don’t know about you, but I’ve never heard of flesh rotting while people are still standing on their feet.  Usually that happens while they’re cold, dead, and lying in a grave somewhere.  Oh, and then you have the whole attacking their neighbors thing.  Definitely sounds like zombies to me!!!

So I’ll ask you, Are There Zombies in the Bible?
