Just a great verse…
I’m getting ready to go into a bridal session, and decided to take a minute or two and catch up on some scripture reading. I’ve been reading Colossians in the message bible and found this passage today.
(Col. 3:1-4) 1 So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. 2 Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ–that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective.
3 Your old life is dead. Your new life, which is your real life–even though invisible to spectators–is with Christ in God. He is your life. 4 When Christ (your real life, remember) shows up again on this earth, you’ll show up, too–the real you, the glorious you. Meanwhile, be content with obscurity, like Christ.
I really loved the whole passage, and there’s a wealth of content there. I like the idea of not looking at the life that is right in front of me everyday. That’s not where the action is, and I also like that the real life is invisible to spectators. It seems like many people don’t understand the choices that I’ve made recently, but in Christ they make perfect sense to me. I’ve also noticed that to a large degree, I seems like my life has faded into obscurity for a while. Apparently that’s okay too.
There isn’t anything that I find to be more fulfilling than moments where God’s word comes alive to me. The occasioned where it ceases to be ink on paper or electric current inside of a screen, and it becomes the handwriting of God on the walls of my heart. Kin of like divine grafitti if you will. I love it!
